It happened again! I woke up and there was another attack! It is like we can’t even catch our breath from one attack to another. Our leaders seem to mumble about this attack and that attack but they don’t seem to have any kind of PLAN! Well, here’s a plan for you, ARM YOURSELF! Yes I know that is “yelling” when you use all caps but that is what I am doing. I am tired of seeing lives destroyed, families ripped apart, children living in terror! And yes I am going to keep using exclamation points!!!!! This is serious people and it is time we took it seriously!
Arm yourself! Or better yet, gather in groups with others armed so you can fight armed together. Practice often. I suggest you get together once a week in a central location with a plan of action and then take action! But before you can do that you have to know what weapons are available and learn how to use them! You can’t wait another day. Don’t let your leaders feed you pablum. Don’t wait for someone else to do it. If not you then who? If not now then when? You can feel the answer inside yourself. You know you have a calling to do this! The enemy is literally at your door! Think of your loved ones. Think of your children and grandchildren. If you don’t fight for them who will? Will your neighbor? Will the government? The answer is no!
So let’s get to the practical part. First, you need to learn about the battlefield. Second, you need to learn about the weapons that are available to you. Third, you need to learn how to use the weapons. So let’s get started.
Everyday you wake up on the battlefield. You have to train yourself to think like that. Put up a sign somewhere you will see it first thing in the morning reminding you that you are on the battle field. This will help you to develop an awareness of your surroundings so that you can anticipate an attack and respond appropriately.
Part of understanding the battlefield is understanding who is on the field. Let’s start with your enemy. The enemy is not something that you will be able to spot immediately. The enemy is very stealthy. They will try to find a weakness and exploit it. Don’t be fooled, the goal of the enemy is your complete destruction. Quality weapons can help to prevent this but you have to be aware of the enemies tactics and of course how to use your weapon. Otherwise you are toast.
You have two weapons available. Let’s go over each one and then we will talk about how to use them.
The first weapon is prayer. Prayer is available to you anywhere, anytime. Prayer is not just words thrown out of your mouth or thoughts in your head. Prayer is serious. It is strategic. It is time consuming. It is very powerful once you learn how to properly use it.
The second weapon is the Sword of the Lord, also known as the Bible. Today the Bible is pretty much available anywhere, anytime through the internet. There are also hard copy versions available. Which one you use depends on your personal preference. However, when you actually use it in battle you HAVE to have it in your mind. This will take a lot of work to get it there.
The best way to improve your accuracy with prayer is to begin using it immediately! Start right now. Pick at least 2 times during the day you will pray and find a place you can do it without being disturbed. Then begin a study of prayer. The best book I have found for getting you up to speed fast on prayer is How To Develop A Powerful Prayer Life by Dr. Gregory Frizzell. This book is short, to the point and very powerful. It will change the way you pray even if you’re a “veteran” prayer warrior.
Start a prayer list of things other than just sick people. Pray for leaders by name, situations, social issues, lost people by name, missionaries by name, countries by name, etc. ASK for guidance on what to pray for. And then persist. Jesus repeatedly told us to keep on praying and don’t give up! He said ASK and you will receive, but the Greek form of the word we translate ASK literally means ‘keep on asking’. So when you ask then ask, and ask, and ask, and ask, and ask, and when you’re done asking, ask again. ASK until you get an answer!
As for the Sword of the Lord, begin reading it EVERY day. Pick a time and place to read it. As you read it you will find that certain verses will make an impression on you. Write down those verses. Put them on 3×5 cards and post them where you will see them every day (like over your smartphone). Begin using them by bringing them to mind during the day and thinking about them. Try using them when you have a decision to make.
Well, this is just a blog and not a book so I’m going to stop here. I will have future blogs on how to use prayer and scripture in spiritual warfare but for now, GET STARTED SOLDIER! This ain’t the time for weekend warriors, it is the time for sold-out soldiers!
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12
